The story behind this design
The fox is assembled from splashes rather than drawn and then filled: orange, cerise and a sharp turquoise thrown down in overlapping marks, with the negative space between them doing the job of the outline. Only the eyes and the black stockings on the legs are rendered precisely, which is what stops the whole thing dissolving into abstraction. It reads as a fox from across a room and as pure color up close.
