The story behind this design
The astronaut floats untethered and slightly off-centre, with a good deal of empty cloth left around the figure, so the shirt itself supplies the void. The suit is drawn with hard specular highlights against deep shadow, which is how a real visor behaves in direct sunlight with no atmosphere to soften it. Colour is held back almost entirely, arriving only in a thin band of reflected blue across the helmet.
