The story behind this design
Cutwork means the flowers are reduced to silhouettes with clean boundaries and nothing shaded inside them, so each petal is defined only by where it stops. The aluminum surface is the reason this works: it renders a hard edge without the slight softening that paper fibers introduce, so the shapes stay as sharp as scissors would leave them. Anemones suit the treatment because their dark centers give each flower an anchor.
