The story behind this design
Since-year merchandise nearly always claims something earnest, and the joke here is picking the least earnest possible quality to have been maintaining that long. Setting it in a plain minimal typeface rather than anything decorative is what keeps the deadpan intact; a playful font would explain the joke and kill it. The pale colorways were chosen for the same reason.
