The story behind this design
Drawing trees instead of leaves means the pattern needs a horizon, and the trunks supply it: they line up along an implied ground even though no ground is drawn, which gives the blanket a right way up. Canopies are massed as soft color rather than individual leaves, so the piece holds together at arm's length and at the far side of a room alike. The palette is narrower than the foliage blankets, mostly ochre and rust against bare grey-brown bark.
