The story behind this design

Be Brave is written by hand rather than set in a typeface, and the two words are deliberately uneven: the B of Brave rises above the line, the ending tapers where the brush ran dry. Colors bleed through the letters from a deep ink blue into rust and back, so no two characters are the same shade. Against the four pale colorways, Chambray and Butter especially, the lettering is the only saturated thing on the garment.
