The story behind this design
Working in two tones only forces every decision into the drawing, because there is no color left to carry the pattern. The blocks change scale across the surface, so the design has a large and a small rhythm running at once. White is left as the dominant field; crowding the black would have turned a graphic pattern into a dark one.
