The story behind this design
Snowflakes are usually printed white on white, which makes them almost invisible under ribbon. This design puts them on a saturated blue instead, so the crystals stand clear of the ground and read from across a room. Each flake is drawn with six-fold symmetry, as real ones are, and they are scattered at several sizes so the pattern does not settle into obvious rows.
