The story behind this design

Up close it is a drawn crosshatch, short strokes laid at right angles in two blues, and from any distance at all it reads as a woven chambray. Printing texture instead of pattern is an odd thing to do and it works here: the shirt looks like a plain top with nothing to clash against, which is what makes it a layering piece.
