About This Item
The DipaliZ Engraved Oak Design Cutting Board is a maple wood board carrying an engraved Bon Appetit design with oak leaf detailing. Four options are sold: a 13.5 by 7 inch paddle, the same paddle with a drip ring, a 9 by 6 inch rectangle and that rectangle with a drip ring. The engraving is cut into the wood rather than printed onto it, so it will not wear off with washing.

The story behind this design
Lettering engraved into wood behaves differently from lettering printed on it, because the grain interrupts every stroke in a slightly different place. The letterforms here are therefore kept broad and open rather than fine, so no stroke is thin enough for the grain to swallow. Oak leaves sit around the words at the same depth, which keeps the whole engraving reading as one piece of work.
Frequently asked questions
Q: What does the engraving say?
A: It reads Bon Appetit, with oak leaf detailing engraved around the lettering.
Q: What shapes and sizes are available?
A: Four: a 13.5 by 7 inch paddle, the same paddle with a drip ring, a 9 by 6 inch rectangle, and that rectangle with a drip ring.
Q: What wood is the board?
A: Maple, which is the wood option on this listing.
Q: Will the engraving wear off?
A: No. It is cut into the wood rather than printed on the surface, so washing will not remove it.
Q: Can I use it for serving as well as chopping?
A: Yes. It works as a cheese or charcuterie board as readily as a chopping board, and the engraved face is the side to present.
Care
Hand wash the board in warm soapy water and dry it at once rather than leaving it to soak. Keep it out of the dishwasher, and rub food-safe mineral oil into the wood now and then to stop it drying out.
