The story behind this design

Brighten a window is a smaller instruction than brighten a room, and the design keeps that scale: a few flowers, a short line, nothing sweeping. Pastels are used at low saturation so the mug does not shout first thing in the morning. The lettering sits below the flowers rather than across them.
