The story behind this design
Pastels on undyed cotton behave differently from pastels on white: the natural canvas warms every color slightly, so the pinks lean peach and the blues go grey-green. This design was drawn for that, with the lightest flowers left as unprinted canvas rather than printed in pale ink, which is why they read as part of the bag rather than sitting on top of it. The foliage is drawn loosely, as though the bunch had just been put down.
