The story behind this design

The cat is drawn entirely as a filled shape with no interior detail, so the whole animal is defined by its outline: the notch of the ears, the curve of the back, the tail lifting at the end. Behind it the sun is built from concentric bands of warm colour that stop short of the shirt edge, which keeps the scene contained. It is a design about dusk as much as about the cat.
