DipaliZ Reading Desk Mat Cat Usa Calendar

The DipaliZ reading cat desk mat is a printed rectangular mat showing a cat reading, set among flowers, with a USA holidays calendar worked into the design. Three sizes are sold: 12" x 18", 12" x 22" and 16" x 32". The calendar makes this mat a reference as well as a surface, which is unusual for a printed desk mat. This DipaliZ mat suits a study desk, a teacher's desk or a home office where a wall calendar would not fit. Sizes are taken from this product's own specification.

The story behind this design

Putting a calendar inside an illustration is a real design problem, because a grid of dates wants to dominate anything around it. This design solves it by giving the cat and the flowers the foreground and letting the calendar sit as a panel rather than a background. The mood is studious and domestic, a desk that reads as lived in.
