Bulbs sit half buried along a drawn soil line, green shoots rise from them, and round allium flower heads float above on tall stems. The story behind this design
Most vegetable prints show the harvest. This one stays in the bed, which is why it needs a horizon: the soil line across the lower third gives the onions somewhere to belong and lets the allium heads float free above it. Those spherical flower heads are the real subject — a pale lilac globe made of dozens of tiny stars — and the bulbs below are drawn plainer so they do not compete.
