DipaliZ Trees Cotton Placemats Holiday Magic Cotton 100%

This DipaliZ placemat is a washable 100% cotton mat printed with a pattern of Christmas snowflakes and trees. One size is listed, 18 by 14 inches, which takes a dinner plate with room either side. Cotton is what makes a placemat worth keeping rather than wiping: it goes through a wash after the meal, which a laminated mat cannot. The pattern is a repeat rather than a central motif, so the mat still looks right with a plate sitting in the middle of it. It suits a Christmas table, a side table, or a kitchen counter.

The story behind this design

Snowflakes and small trees are scattered across the cotton at a steady rhythm, with no border and no center, because a placemat spends its life mostly covered by a plate. The palette is cool and gentle: pale blue, soft white and a muted green, which sits better under food than a strong red would. At close range the snowflakes are individually drawn rather than repeated from one shape.
