The story behind this design
The tree is drawn tall and narrow to suit a portrait card, with the ornaments spaced widely enough that each one still reads at this size. Snowflakes fill the space either side of the tree, which would otherwise sit as two empty columns on a card this proportion. The palette is kept to a handful of colors so that the matte stock, which absorbs more ink than a coated sheet, does not muddy the design.
