The argyle vest is so strongly associated with one look, roughly a golf course in 1958, that the only honest thing to do with it is commit. This version keeps the diamonds large and the row single, which is the proportion that makes an argyle look deliberate rather than apologetic. The overline is knitted in one contrasting shade and nothing else is added; every attempt to modernise argyle by crowding it has made it worse.
