The story behind this design

This version of the monster is the loudest one in the range, drawn with saturated fills rather than line, which is why it needs muted grounds underneath it. Manzanita, Meteorite and Olive are all dulled earth shades, and the effect is deliberately retro: bright character, dusty shirt, the palette of a screen print from forty years ago. On Pacific the whole thing cools down and the character reads almost aquatic.
