The story behind this design
The waves are drawn as repeating curved bands, each one overlapping the last, so the movement reads from left to right across the cover. White appears only at the crests, and that restraint is what makes them look like breaking foam. Blues deepen toward the bottom edge, the way water does as it gets further from the shore.
