The story behind this design
The cats in this print are built out of flat color fields rather than outlines, so a face resolves out of magenta, teal and ochre shapes only once you step back. Nothing is shaded; the depth comes from how the blocks are stacked. It is the most graphic of the DipaliZ cat designs, and it was clearly drawn for dark grounds, where the color has room to shout.
