The story behind this design
Removing the animal turns this into a plant study. Three carrots are drawn at slightly different angles with their root hairs left in, and the foliage above them is worked out properly, each frond divided down to the smallest leaflets instead of being scribbled. The greens are deeper than elsewhere in the Carrot Dream series, which is what gives the bag its herbarium feeling.
