The story behind this design
Cable knitting began as a working technique on fishing coasts, where the crossed stitches made a denser and warmer fabric, and only later became the decorative signature it is now. Nothing about the look is applied: every rope on this cardigan is stitches physically moved out of line. Cream is the traditional color for it because a pale yarn lets the shadows between the cables do the drawing.
