The story behind this design
The surfboards are painted in loose watercolor with the pigment allowed to pool at the edges, so each board has a soft rim of deeper color rather than a drawn outline. The palette is coastal without being literal: seafoam, coral, a washed sand tone and a single deeper teal. Laid flat the boards read as a row; from a distance the whole towel reads as a band of beach color.
