The story behind this design
Printing flowers on a dark ground changes what they do. Instead of a pattern spread across a light field, the blooms read as lit objects emerging from shadow, and because the ground does most of the visual work the swimsuit behaves much like a dark solid from a distance. The flowers are drawn with pale edges and deeper centers, which is what keeps them legible against the dark rather than sinking into it.
