A flip flop strap is a narrow V, which is about the least forgiving shape a pattern can be asked to fill: anything with a repeat will be cut apart by it. This floral was drawn as individual small blooms placed along the strap rather than as a repeating field, so each flower sits whole within the width and none is sliced by the edge. The scale is small enough that the pattern still reads from standing height.
