The story behind this design
The teapot anchors the upper half of the frame with a cup, plate and laid silverware stepping down and away from it, which gives the arrangement a diagonal rather than a row. Tones stay dark and low-key, closer to an oil study than a food photograph. The cutlery is what dates it — heavy, old-fashioned pieces that push the scene toward a hotel dining room rather than a modern kitchen.
