The story behind this design
The composition runs a river out of a mountain valley, with the water catching the light while the flanking slopes stay in shadow. Trees mass along both banks and thin out as the ground rises. It is a travel drawing more than a decorative pattern — the sort of view you get an hour into a walk, when the valley finally opens.
