Green and purple sit opposite enough to vibrate where they meet, and the drawing leans into that instead of softening it. Shapes are built from overlapping washes with no outline anywhere, so the pattern has depth without any single form to fix on. On a cropped body the composition is read in a narrow band, which is why the scale was kept large and loose.
