The story behind this design
The medallions are set on a half-drop so the eye never finds a straight row, which is the oldest trick in tile design and still the most effective one. Orange holds the ground while the motifs are outlined in a deeper rust that reads almost as shadow. Long sleeves give the repeat somewhere to travel, and the pattern is scaled so a full medallion lands cleanly on the forearm.
