The story behind this design
Putting a crown on a silverback is not subtle, and the drawing does not pretend otherwise — but it plays the portrait straight, with the animal drawn steadily front-on and the crown sitting almost too small for the head. That mismatch is where the humour lives. The result reads somewhere between a heraldic crest and a boxing poster, which is a better place for it than either alone.
