The story behind this design
A flared skirt changes how a floral behaves: the poppies stretch on the bodice and gather in the folds of the skirt, so the same drawing reads tight at the top and loose below. The design leans on that, placing the larger blooms low where the fabric has room. Purple against the shadow inside a fold is where the color does its best work.
