The story behind this design
Zion is a canyon of vertical walls, which is a problem on a square magnet: the shape wants to be tall and the magnet is not. The drawing solves it by choosing a view across the canyon rather than up it, so the strata run horizontally and the square reads as a window rather than a crop. A metallic print surface suits red rock better than paper, because it holds the warmth of the stone.
