The story behind this design

Dots are the easiest pattern to get wrong, because a flawless grid of them reads as machine output. These are set slightly off the grid and vary a little in size, which is enough to make the surface look drawn. On a skater skirt the flare stretches the spacing at the hem and compresses it at the waist, so the pattern is never quite the same twice.
