The story behind this design
A waterline cuts the mat in half and the blossom is repeated beneath it, broken slightly as a reflection on moving water would be. Dusk tones keep both halves close in value, so the mirror reads as water rather than as a second branch. The mood is still and late in the day, the most composed and the most deliberately symmetrical of the seven sakura mats.
