The story behind this design

Putting the phrase on the sleeve instead of the chest is the design. A slogan about not trying too hard would contradict itself printed in 40-point type across the front, so it is set small, in plain lowercase, where it is only read by someone standing next to you. The rest of the shirt is left entirely plain.
