The story behind this design
This artwork was built from wet-into-wet passages that were allowed to run together, so no two areas of the leg carry the same combination of tones. There is no repeating motif at all, which is unusual for activewear and is what makes the print read as a painting rather than a pattern. The heaviest pigment settles at the ankle and thins as it climbs.
