The story behind this design
Gothic blackletter is a strange survivor: monastic scribes used it, then newspapers kept it for their mastheads, then metal bands and tattoo artists claimed it, and it has picked up something from each stop. Stitched across a beanie cuff it reads as the last of those, which is exactly why it works for a name rather than a phrase. The heavy strokes hold their shape in thread where a fine script would disappear into the knit.
