The story behind this design
The leaves are drawn individually rather than as a scattered pile, each one a recognizable species shape and each in a different stage of turning, from still-green through amber to a spent brown. Laying them out in a loose row rather than a heap is what gives the design its calm. Maroon and Forest Green take it best, because the garment color finishes the palette; on Sand the leaves float and the sweatshirt reads more like a botanical study than a seasonal graphic.
