The story behind this design
Royal and Gold together are close to heraldic, which gives the adventure line a slightly grander reading than the greens and blues elsewhere in the series. Against Royal the lettering has to carry real weight to stay legible, so it is printed at full opacity rather than distressed. Gold is the friendlier of the pair and the easier one to wear on a school run.
