The story behind this design

The flowers at the top of this graphic are painted properly, petal by petal, and then the paint is allowed to fail: below them the color runs down in vertical streaks, pink into orange into turquoise, as though the piece were hung up before it dried. That deliberate collapse is the design. Keeping it to a white ground matters, because the drips need somewhere clean to run into.
