About This Item

The story behind this design
Flamingos and hibiscus are the two shorthand images for the tropics, and putting both on one shell could easily tip into souvenir-shop territory. What stops it here is the density: the foliage is packed tight enough that the birds read as part of the pattern rather than as a motif stuck on top. The pinks run from a pale shell tone through to a hot coral, which is what gives a flat printed shell some depth.
