The story behind this design
These roses are drawn as if they have already been through a century of light: edges softened, pinks dropped back toward dust, greens gone grey. They sit close together with little background showing, in the manner of an old chintz. Aging the palette rather than the drawing is what gives the pattern its antique feel.
