The story behind this design
This pattern is drawn in the manner of an old furnishing chintz, cabbage roses and small filler flowers packed tightly with almost no visible ground between them. The color has been deliberately knocked back, so the roses sit at a dusty antique pink and the leaves at a grey-sage rather than a fresh green, as if the fabric has spent decades near a window. Fine cream outlines around the blooms keep the density from turning to mush at a distance.
