The story behind this design

Because the print runs across the waist seam, the flowers had to be drawn at a scale that still reads once the fabric is gathered into the skirt. Larger blooms were kept to the skirt panels and smaller buds to the bodice, which is the opposite of what a flat layout would suggest but correct on the body. Deep green foliage stops the pinks from looking washed out.
