Containing the flowers inside a circle solved a practical problem: a loose bouquet spreads and distorts when a tote is carried and the fabric folds, while a ring holds its shape. Inside the frame the stems are drawn crowded and slightly wild, so the containment reads as deliberate tension rather than tidiness. On natural canvas the ring almost disappears into the weave; on black it becomes the first thing you see.
