The story behind this design
Printing a scene rather than a motif on a hat only works if the horizon line is handled carefully, because a bucket hat has no obvious top or bottom. Here the trees run vertically all the way around, so the design never looks upside down from any angle, and the undergrowth fills the brim where the eye expects the ground to be.
