The story behind this design

A dandelion seed head is almost entirely negative space, and this design leans on that. The individual seeds are drawn fine enough that at a distance the head reads as a pale sphere, and only up close do the separate filaments resolve. Holding everything to pastels was the right call for a subject this delicate: a strong color would have made the seeds look drawn rather than suspended, which is the whole appeal.
