About This Item
The DipaliZ Galaxy Swirl Metal Art Sign is a matte aluminum print, 0.12 inches deep, listed in seven horizontal sizes from 7 by 5 inches up to 36 by 24 inches. The artwork is an original cosmic swirl in saturated color, a spiral of nebula gas rather than a photographic star field. One of the seven sizes, 36 by 12 inches, is a panoramic format. Because it prints onto metal it hangs without glass, which is the sensible choice above a child's bed.

The story behind this design
Space photography is mostly black, and black on aluminum loses the one advantage of the material. So this galaxy is drawn as color: magenta and teal gas wound into a spiral, with the dark left only in the gaps between arms. The result reads less like a telescope image and more like something seen through water. At 36 by 12 inches the spiral stretches into a band, which is a different picture from the same artwork square.
