The story behind this design
A gingerbread house is architecture made of icing, which makes it a natural subject for a card back: the piped white lines already behave like ornament. The roof tiles and window frames give the design a repeating rhythm that fills a 2.5 inch rectangle without needing a border added round it. Warm biscuit browns against white keep the whole thing reading as baked rather than as a graphic, which is the difference between this and a generic festive pattern.
Frequently asked questions
Q: What design is on the Gingerbread House deck?
A: A gingerbread house, printed as the card back. The faces are the standard suits and values.
Q: What size and stock are the cards?
A: Standard poker size, 2.5 by 3.5 inches, on smooth 300 gsm premium-coated cardstock with a semi glossy finish.
Q: Which other DipaliZ decks are Christmas designs?
A: Two: this gingerbread house deck and the holly leaves and berries deck. Both use the same card stock and size.
Q: Would this work as a stocking filler?
A: A boxed poker deck is flat, light and needs no wrapping beyond a ribbon, which is what makes it a practical stocking gift.
Care
Keep the deck boxed and dry between games. Coated cardstock scuffs if cards are left loose in a drawer.
